When I began writing this book, it was my intent to focus on the military men and women of our country. They are definitely heroes to all of us. In gathering stories, I found there are many ordinary people that are also heroes. This inspired me to expand my vision to include short stories from people of all ages and walks of life who have made a difference. This is the first book, and it starts a series of ´´Chit Chat Café´´ worldwide short stories. After listening to this book, if you can turn to someone and say, ´´You should listen to this book´´, my objective will be met. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Gerry Bradley. Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren´t listening to rules and regulations.... Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a 20-something hell-raiser, he´s his SEAL team´s new XO - and a man with a secret. Or seven. He´s kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction - they´re taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time. Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude, and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn´t always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He´ll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low. But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they´re just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team´s newest member, they´re in for the shock of a lifetime...and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good. With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together. Press 1 for technical support. Press 2 for broken hearts. Press 3 if your life has totally crashed. . . . Six friends work nights at a call center in India, providing technical support for a major U.S. appliance corporation. Skilled in patience-and accent management-they help American consumers keep their lives running. Yet behind the headsets, everybody´s heart is on the line. Shyam (Sam to his callers) has lost his self-confidence after being dumped by the girl who just so happens to be sitting next to him. Priyanka´s domineering mother has arranged for her daughter´s upscale marriage to an Indian man in Seattle. Esha longs to be a model but discovers it´s a horizontal romp to the runway. Lost, dissatisfied Vroom has high ideals, but compromises them by talking on the phone to idiots each night. Traditional Radhika has just found out that her husband is sleeping with his secretary. And Military Uncle (nobody knows his real name) sits alone working the online chat. They all try to make it through their shifts-and maintain their sanity-under the eagle eye of a boss whose ego rivals his incompetence. But tonight is no ordinary night. Tonight is Thanksgiving in America: Appliances are going haywire, and the phones are ringing off their hooks. Then one call, from one very special caller, changes everything. Chetan Bhagat´s delicious romantic comedy takes us inside the world of the international call center, where cultural cross-wires come together with perfect pathos, hilarity, and spice.

When most think of Tolstoy, they think of the great author. War and Peace and Anna Karenina brought him worldwide fame, and a good deal of money. Had he done nothing else in life, these two novels would have ensured him status and respect. Few others had written both a national epic and a great love story; and some might have been content with that. For his last 30 years, however, Tolstoy walked a different track. After his spiritual crisis, when he was 50, he exchanged his author’s clothes for those of a prophet – a prophet who was to have a great influence on Gandhi, amongst others. Through his prolific writing, he now became the scourge of the rich, the Church, and the Government. Neither did he miss an opportunity to denounce both science and art. Darwin? Dostoyevsky? Shakespeare? No one was to be left standing. In Conversations with Leo Tolstoy, Simon Parke grants us the honour of sitting with the great man, towards the end of his life, and gives us the chance to chat with him. The conversation is imagined, but not Tolstoy’s answers. This is Tolstoy is his own words, drawn from his extensive books, essays, and letters, and the military, vegetarianism, marriage, non-violence, death, God, and sex are all on the agenda. ‘I want people to come away feeling they know Tolstoy,’ says Simon Parke, who was keen to use only Tolstoy’s authentic words. ‘They will be become aware of his opinions certainly, for he was forthright in those. He had an opinion on everything! But I hope also that people leave with a sense of the man beneath the opinions. I don’t always agree with him; but it is hard not to admire him. He was far from perfect, but as he says: just because he walks the road like a drunk, doesn’t mean it’s the wrong road.’ 1. Language: English. Narrator: Andy Harrison, Simon Parke. Ninteen ninety-four, Northern California. The Internet is just emerging from its origins in the military and university research labs. Groups of idealistic technologists, recognizing its potential as a tool for liberation and solidarity, are working feverishly to build the network. In the early chat rooms of one such gathering, soon-to-become-famous as The WELL, a Stanford futurist named Tom Mandel creates a new conference. In a topic headed ´´Local Bug Report´´, he asks for advice from fellow online participants about how he might shake off a persistent hacking cough. A few weeks into the conversation, it emerges that Mandel´s illness is something serious. Within six months he is dead. This astonishing and deeply moving book is an edited version of the exchanges that took place on The WELL in the months leading up to the death of Mandel. It traces the way an innocuous health topic morphed into a dramatic chronicle of terminal illness and the complicated and emotional issues that surrounded it. A cast of articulate and savvy participants offer their advice and love to Mandel, supporting both him and each other as the trauma unfolds. At the center of their back-and-forth is Mandel himself, in a voice that is irascible, intelligent, never sentimental, and, above all, determined to stay in the conversation to the end. With an introduction by Paper editor Kim Hastreiter, who followed the exchanges on The WELL as they happened and was so moved that she printed and filed away a copy, @heaven opens a window onto the way the Internet functioned in its earliest days. In contrast to the trolling and take-downs of today´s online discourse, this electronic chronicle of a death foretold reminds us of the values of kinship and community that the Internet´s early pioneers tried to instill in a system that went on to take over the world. 1.
